Fall Foods That Are Good for Your Teeth

General Dentistry Phoenix, A

Now that we have kissed summer goodbye, it’s time to start gearing up for the fall season and treating your mouth right with some smile healthy snacks. Although Halloween (and cavity season are just around the corner, we thought it would be fun to list a few snacks that are healthy for your smile.

Apples

Whether you prefer honey crisp, granny smith, Gala, Fiji, or any other type of apple, the good news is that they are all good for your teeth. The crunchy texture of apples helps to scrub our teeth and naturally get rid of existing plaque and tartar build-up. Additionally, they are packed full of vitamins which will help to keep your gums healthy.

Almonds

Whether you prefer your almonds raw, roasted, or sprinkled on a salad as a salad topper, they are also surprisingly good for your smile. The great thing about almonds is that they are full of vitamins, are low in sugar, and contain a lot of calcium; all of which is good news for your teeth. And it doesn’t hurt that they are filled with protein which can strengthen your teeth and your muscles throughout your body.

Pumpkin

Eating pumpkin pie may not be the healthiest thing for your teeth because it contains a lot of sugar, but raw pumpkin is nutritious and makes a great additive to a lot of yummy recipes like soups, salads, stir-fries, and baked goods. Pumpkin contains a lot of magnesium in it which when it’s combined with calcium, can strengthen your teeth and make them more resilient. Additionally, it has vitamin A in it which supports healthy gums.
