How To Maximize Your Teeth Whitening Results At Arcadia Dental Arts.

The most effective teeth whitening results are achieved through both an in-office treatment and regular follow-up at-home treatments. This allows patients to extend the life of their new, brilliantly white smile with touch up sessions.

Teeth whitening is a safe, non-invasive way to see life-changing results in a short amount of time. In just one visit, years of food, coffee, and wine stains that have dulled your smile can be erased.

With the right treatment plan, we’ve had success in whitening even the toughest cases. Tetracycline medications given during the development of permanent teeth during childhood can result in a yellowed, deep purple shade to adult teeth. Dr. Pappas has changed the lives of many patients who have lived with these deep stains their whole life.

How Long Will My Teeth Stay White After My Teeth Whitening Treatment?

Our in-office and at-home teeth whitening options whiten your teeth several shades. This whitening isn’t permanent, however; whatever you were doing to stain your teeth before will stain them again. So, gauging how long your newly whitened teeth will stay white is difficult. Good home hygiene plays a role. Twice daily brushing and flossing are important, as are your twice-yearly professional cleanings and exams with Dr. Pappas.

Plus, if you opted for at-home teeth whitening, you can come in and get more of our peroxide gel and perform periodic home touchups to keep your teeth their whitest.

Does Teeth Whitening Damage Tooth Enamel?

Teeth whitening is absolutely safe for your tooth enamel. Whitening works in a similar way to detergents and stains on clothes. The bleaching agents penetrate the porous enamel and break up the stains, which are then rinsed away. There have not been any instances in the U.S. of structural damage caused by FDA approved whitening methods such as those we use at Arcadia Dental Arts. After your whitening, your teeth may be a little more sensitive to hot and cold, but this sensation quickly passes. There are no side effects.

Does Teeth Whitening Affect Composite Fillings, Porcelain Veneers, Or Porcelain Crowns?

Teeth whitening solutions and gels have no effect on composite fillings, veneers, or crowns. The dental porcelain used in the fabrication of crowns and veneers is highly resistant to staining, so those prosthetics will stay whiter than your natural teeth over time. Whitening will keep your natural teeth as white as the porcelain. Composite fillings are not affected in any way by whitening agents. The color stays the same, bonds are not compromised, and longevity is the same. Composite resin also resists staining more than your natural teeth.

Are There Ways To Keep My Teeth Whiter?

The best way to whiten your teeth is to stop by and opt for either our in-office or at-home teeth whitening programs at Arcadia Dental Arts. Aside from those options, there are other ways you can keep your teeth whiter. Use an ADA-approved whitening toothpaste with fluoride. These toothpastes use gentle scrubbing agents to remove light daily staining from coffee, wine, and other foods and drinks.

You can cut out foods and drinks from your diet, things like red wine, berries, coffee, and such. But what fun is that? Plus, blueberries and raspberries are both known for staining, but they are “superfoods” that should be in your diet. If you want to minimize staining, drink some water and swish it around your mouth immediately after eating or drinking staining foods and beverages.

How Long Does Teeth Whitening Take?

Our in-office teeth whitening takes around one hour. At-home whitening depends on your degree of staining. For the best results, apply the gel-filled trays to your teeth overnight for one to two weeks, in most cases.

How Effective Is Teeth Whitening?

Our whitening programs can vary depending on the patient, but generally, we expect to whiten your teeth from three to eight shades brighter.

How Do I Use My At-Home Teeth Whitening Trays?

This is really easy. We make trays to custom fit your teeth, and we provide you with professional-strength whitening gel. You simply fill your trays with the appropriate amount of gel, and then place the trays onto your teeth at bedtime. When you remove the trays, you simply rinse your mouth with water and rinse the trays. You’ll do this every day from one to two weeks.

How Long Before I See My Teeth Whitening Results?

This depends just how soon you want to have whiter teeth. Our in-office teeth whitening takes about one hour and your teeth will be dramatically whiter. So, if you have a party or event tonight or tomorrow night, that would be the way to go. For the best, most consistent whitening we recommend at-home whitening. It takes one to two weeks, depending on your staining and the level of whitening you would like to achieve.
